I rarely write anymore, and when I do I rarely show it to anyone. This short piece is a recent work and hopefully the conclusion to a series of rather esoteric poems on desire, desperation, resignation, etc. that began with "Έρως και Λήθη" (Eros and Lethe). That cycle of poems contains a multitude of references to Greek mythology (The Waters of Lethe), Buddhist and Stoic concepts (Tanha and Apatheia), and Thoreau's Walden (Lives of quiet desperation). This poem begins with a brief reference to Walden but is mostly based on Freudian concepts.
